What's Happening

Atem is excited to introduce the Carbon Cockpit, a revolutionary platform designed to empower every company to actively participate in combating climate change. This free tool is specifically built to help companies offset their carbon emissions successfully. Successful offsetting means using carbon credits that meet high-quality standards without overspending.

Why It Matters

Many companies face significant challenges when investing in carbon offsetting due to the complexity of the market and the difficulty in making financially sound decisions. Large enterprises often overcome these hurdles by employing consultants or in-house experts—options that are not feasible for most businesses. The Carbon Cockpit democratizes the offsetting process by providing critical data that is easy to understand and accessible for free, enabling any company to succeed in their offsetting efforts.

Key Features

At launch, the Carbon Cockpit offers comprehensive guidance through three essential scores for over 6,000 carbon credit projects:

  1. Trust Score: Utilizing the trusted CCQI framework, augmented with additional data and third-party ratings, this score helps companies determine the reliability of a carbon credit. It answers the crucial question: "Can I trust this carbon credit?"

  2. Value Score: This score combines the trustworthiness of the credit with likely market pricing to determine if this project is a economical choice compared to its peers. It answers: "Is buying this credit a financially sound decision?"

  3. Guideline Fit: This score assesses how well a project aligns with a company's specific sustainability guidelines. It answers: "Is this credit a fit for my offsetting strategy?"

The Big Picture

Companies are responsible for a significant portion of global carbon emissions, facing increasing pressure to set and achieve net-zero targets. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), at least 10-20% of corporate emissions are residual, meaning they cannot be eliminated with current technology or economic conditions. This results in a need for approximately 5 to 10 gigatons (Gt) of carbon offsetting to truly reach net-zero. Currently, we only offset around 0.2 Gt, covering just 2-4% of the residual emissions. Closing this gap is critical for meeting our net-zero objectives, and the Carbon Cockpit aims to be a pivotal tool in achieving this goal.

By providing transparent, accessible, and reliable data at no cost, Atem's Carbon Cockpit supports businesses in making informed decisions about their carbon offsetting strategies, paving the way for a sustainable future.
